This game made me actually impulsively write some stuff down - that's a first after years and years of struggling with crippling perfectionism. Gives me hope! I'll definitely go and get the original, ty so much for this version.
The game doesn't seem to be working for me--desktop computer, Windows 10, Google Chrome (presumably it's most recent version). It says there's a fatal error and just refuses to do anything. It's sad bc I always loved coming here to relax--would love to see it up and running again ASAP!
Thanks so much for letting me know, XionKuriyama. It's running fine in Chrome for me, so I'm a little stumped; I'm using a Macbook, though, so I'll try it on a Windows PC in the morning and see if I can figure out what might be going on.
Any chance you could grab a screenshot and send it to me next time it happens?
Your comment is from a long time ago now, but I had the same error (using Chrome on Windows). In case someone else encounters it: the message reads "Error: no valid storage adapters found" and it is caused by blocking third party cookies.
I was able to resolve it by enabling third party cookies for https://adnroy.itch.io/ in my Chrome settings, under Privacy and Security > Cookies and Other Site Data.
I love this so much! I'm glad I discovered it. Love how you can world build in just a minute. Will play the TTRPG version soon as I get a pack of cards!
This is perfect for wanting to get inspiration when you're in a writer's block (or if you run out of creative juices). Easy to pick up anytime. It's so cool to see games like this.
Hey! Sorry, I clearly don't check this thread enough. The responses are not saved centrally, as the game runs entirely in your browser; building in a server to save all of that would have made the build a lot more complex. I'm encouraging people are interested to download their log and share it on social media with the hashtag #AloneAmongTheStars.
At the most basic level this game is a journal simulator. You are given an object or place and are supposed to write about it. The game puts you in the shoes of a lone space explorer, and asks you to role play and improvise to fill up a log with your own imagination. It reminds me of the games I used to play as a small kid. with just my pencil, paper, and mind. I could play any game, from drawing two stick-man bunkers and having them wage war or a big tree with people slowly carving out a home into it, while trying to survive on an alien planet. This game goes to show that you don't need fancy graphics, or a pre-made story to have fun. all you need is that childlike imagination and a medium to imprint your story onto.

A great way to enjoy a wonderful game on the go or when you dont have a deck of cards (or don't want to get them out).
I'm getting a fatal error: No valid storage adapters found.
That's very strange! I just played through and it worked normally for me. Mind sharing what OS/Browser you're using so I can test further?
I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with this.
I had cookies disabled. Enabling them fixed the issue. Great work!
Sorry, how do you put text in the ship's log? Do you just grab paper and do it yourself?
EDIT: Oh, I see the text box now
I really enjoy the idea of this game, and the music was really soothing to get lost in exploring a few planets at a time. A very good time!
thank you so much!
played the original, love this one! <3

Here's a screenshot. Maybe it's on my end? My browser has been running for a few days.

Thank you so much! The original is really great.
Fun game I liked it.
I’m also looking forward to a downloadable version for playing on Twine mobile.
A separate question, are all the responses saved anywhere? It would be kind of cool to see the other discoveries other players have made.

Defenitely wish I could download it to run on Twine.
Hey! I'm in the early stages of creating a downloadable version. Stay tuned!
I will give the same review I gave on IFDB. 5/5

This is a beautiful implementation, thanks for working on this.
I would love to translate it to Spanish; hit me up if you are interested, so we can talk about it (:
I'd love that! Just let me know what you need—you can DM me on Twitter @adnroy.
Great, I will!
Did you manage to translate it? I was wondering the same. This game should be translated into Spanish.I'd gladly help (I'm Mexican).
